The parents of her include Dennis Alan Taylor an ex-banker and Jennifer Marina Joy psychologist. The father of her is Argentine of Scottish and English heritage. Her mother's ancestral lineage is Spanish and English. She was the first born of a family of six children. Four of them are siblings of the marriage that she had with Taylor's dad. They lived at Buenos Aires until she was six, after which they moved to the Victoria region of London. According to Taylor-Joy the move was traumatic and she was unable to study English in the hopes of returning to Argentina. Hill House, a school located in the same area that Northlands must take her. Then, she was enrolled at Queen's Gate School to study dance and perform in the school's productions. She dropped out of high school when she was 16 in order to focus on her acting career. Taylor-Joy was a child actress who was certain she would be one. She realized her dream when Sarah Doukas, the founder of Storm Management offered her a position as a model.
